A spoonful of codeine makes the medicine?

Gordon and I were having a good laugh today about the song from Mary Poppins. We laughed so hard I kept going into coughing fits.

To make a long story short, I went to the doctor's office Friday and came home needing to pick up three prescriptions. It is by far the most and strongest I have had since before we were married. I am on a Z-Pack, a cough medicine (with codeine), and an inhaler. All of these are on top of them having me take two Mucinex and lots of vitamins. Gordon thought it was awesome they gave me codeine because his only memory of it was in Tylenol when his tonsils were taken out. I have a very strong dislike for cough medicine. Gordon would laugh at me when I took the cough syrup because I would un-voluntarily shutter each time. Finally this morning I put a tiny bit on a spoon and made him taste it. Now he understands why I kept telling him it is not a wonder drug like he remembers from so long ago.

Finally with all the medicine, I’m slowly getting better.

On to more interesting things! As you might have read of Facebook, I am pregnant. Gordon and I left Little Bit with Mimi on Wednesday and made the crazy trip in the ice to Plano for an appointment with a specialist for a fetal echocardiogram. It took us over an hour and a half each way. We were able to spend over an hour in the office and see the baby extensively.  Not only did they do the a great job with making sure the baby was growing normal, looked healthy and seamed to be developing everything properly, but they spent much time on the heart for us. Our doctor was wonderful! He explained everything he was looking at with each of the different views of the heart as well as explained what would look different with a heart defect and very specifically with what Little Bit’s heart would have looked like at that point. It was very educational. Due to Little Bit’s heart defect, we will have to have a specialist appointment with each of the rest of our children.

With all the ice and snow this week, we have had a mini vacation that was much needed. Gordon was able to be home for some of the days because Mattress Firm was nice enough to cancel work for him. His help has been much appreciated. I feel like I did nothing but the homework I needed to do and rest all week. Gordon has taken care of everything around the house. I’m so blessed to have his love, support, and constant help.

You would think that one of us would have taken Little Bit out side to play in the snow, but truth be told, we both tried and she hated it. The poor girl complained every time we attempted even if we didn’t succeed in getting her to try. It was not until Saturday when things were melting that she was even interested in the snow. Here are some pictures of her after we came out of the Dollar Tree. She did not want to get in the car; she just wanted to walk in the snow. I even caught her trying to eat it. She is definitely my kid, I remember eating snow all the time as a kid thinking it was the perfect kind of snow cone. No wonder I eat ice today and order snow cones with no flavor…I know, I’m weird.

Look at her cute hand print in the midst of her foot prints.

We hope everyone had a great week last week and will enjoy the snow we might get this week.
